“Undeniably, this is a great Montrose”, writes Parker, which has given it a mark of 95-97/100.
The Château Montrose vineyard, which is exposed to the winds and lies near the ocean, is naturally healthy and protected from the high toll of sickness. In 2008, 60% of its harvest went into the estate’s great wine to give a yield of 44 hl/ha, an exceptional figure for this vintage!
In line with 1989, 1990 and 2003
This Lord of Saint-Estèphe has been made by Jean-Bernard Delmas (formerly of Haut-Brion) since 2006. He is successful in 2008 with a wine that comes ”close to the mythical 1989, 1990 and 2003 vintages” (Parker).
Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) enhances the sumptuous aromas of Montrose 2008: tobacco, cocoa, flowers and black cherries.
This wine, which is very complete, combines opulence, concentration, richness, elegance and strength under the palate. It is even more pure and fresher than its mythical older siblings…
A must-have!
