Cos d’Estournel had promised a nice surprise for 2006 (see our Primeurs 2006 newsletter). Happily, it has delivered! This famous “super 2002”, given a mark of 93/100 by Parker, resonates massively under the palate, with a dazzling ebony exoticism, from which rise virile aromas of blackberries, truffles, flowers and roasted notes that have a fabulous maturity. Cos d’Estournel 2006, with this structure that is as voluminous as an oriental palace, is, again this year, a great wine to be kept for ageing.
