
La Mission Haut-Brion must continue striving to become exceptional. This has been the destiny of this Lord of Bordeaux since it entered the inner circle of the Haut-Brion myth. When faced with Merlots that were slightly below par, it has no choice but to sacrifice them.
The percentage of Merlot chosen by La Mission 2007 is much lower than usual: 43%, compared to an average of 70%. This new composition places Cabernet Sauvignon centre stage, like it did in 2003.
This is not the only sacrifice that allowed this estate to come close to being excellent: only 38% of the harvest was deemed acceptable to represent this noble name.
La Mission Haut-Brion 2007, with “Nothing more than delicacy, refinement and freshness” (La Revue du Vin de France), bears the seal of unique purity at the finish that this Pessac family is known for.
And its wine is as bright as the rising sun: a floral, smoky and woody sunrise. At dawn, fresh aromas of Morello cherries, star anise and sweet spices awaken. Then a silky and structured morning with mineral notes unfolds under the palate. The day then rises in a more and more ample and powerful light.
