Château Sociando-Mallet is one of the great wines overlooked in the rankings of 1855’s Médoc vintages. Yet its “exceptional status” serves it well. On the contrary, the greatest Haut-Médoc classic has known how to convince Bordeaux lovers by its distinctive type, its regularity and the affordability of its prices: isn’t being a true value the best status in the world?
Château Sociando-Mallet is a pure independent that Jean Gautreau, far from the limelight of the streets of Bordeaux, produces and that he loves and considers a “true” one with utmost confidence: a powerful, distinguished and generous wine capable of challenging time itself.
In 2006, the dialogue between Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which share the stage in almost equal proportions, is full of spirit! The power and complexity of the latter challenges the roundness and fruity character of the former. Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberries, spices and liquorice are released from a dense and controlled body, which, after a few years in the wine cellar, will allow Sociando-Mallet 2006 to become the wine that is so highly appreciated by all lovers of great Bordeaux.
