Les Grands Chênes, by Bernard Magrez, at the top
Monday 28/11/2005 |
Most beautiful ceps grow under the highest oak trees… And it is now at Château Les Grands Chênes ('The High Oak Trees'), under the guidance since 1998 of Bernard Magrez who is moreover the Château Pape Clément's owner, that you will find the most sough-after vine stocks. This Cru Bourgeois from Saint-Christoly, little port at the North point of Médoc is the great winner of the 'Bordeaux versus California' match (with 90,69 as a score), which gathered in September 2005 the European jury, here understand the greatest experts of the great wine producers countries, for a blind competition between thirty wines of the 2001 vintage. A growth judged as beautiful, highly fruity with its splendid tannins and its very coloured texture. There is no doubt now: Les Grands Chênes are surpassing all the sequoias of the Bordeaux and Californian wines!
