"Pomerol after poor" will not run anymore
Thursday 21/09/2006
As if its name was a predisposition: Lalande-de-Pomerol… Being already the suburb for the Saint-Emilion and Pomerol inhabitants, the small vineyard of Lalande-de-Pomerol (1100 hectares) seems to be out of this prestigious society.
The Neac and Lalande hills are at the origin of this “marginal” appellation… People called its red wine: "Pomerol after poor"… To Hubert de Boüard’s great displeasure! Co-owner of Angelus in Saint-Emilion, he also owns 30 hectares of vines in Lalande-de-Pomerol, Château La Fleur de Boüard.
In the manner of this important producer Bordeaux and tired of the comparison with their illustrious neighbour, the Lalande-de-Pomerol producers decided to react relying on excellence. In this sense, the Plus of la Fleur de Boüard, special cuvee of M. de Boüard, is the most tasty example!
And it is not the only one. The Châteaux Siaurac and Tournefeuille also starts to find their land tipicity. A quest, a challenge for these new Lalande-de-Pomerol knights are revealing a nice and quality duel, even if in the Libournais, everyone has room.
