Gold in Jura
Monday 18/09/2006
"Take the time to go through this gustative barrier to penetrate the oxidation mystery, you will go through the captivating universe of Jura wines”, the fanatics. Like the strong personalities, the famous yellow wine has also enemies.
Naturally, the expression “oxidized wine” should chill the uninitiated consumers, who should easily associate this to a spoilt wine! This is wrong, oxidation is a winemaking method also used in Xeres or Madera to elaborate “dry”, strong and generous wines.
Stéphane Tissot (Domaine Tissot) and Laurent Macle (Domaine Jean Macle) are two talented winemakers, who are working in Arbois and Château-Chalon in Jura. They are both passionate of yellow wines and Savagnin, this “king of grape” of the Jura hills. However, their elixir presents two very different characters.
The Jean Macle Domain represents the Château-Chalon great wines’ elegance and pureness. By their complexity and their flavours’ charm when they age, they make thinking about travelling. In addition, the Stéphane Tissot ones are incredibly rich. Profound, ample and intense, they invite you to a real advanture, far from any gustative criteria…
A wine of passion and passionate – we have to mention the domains Arlay and Rolet too – proving that universality of good or bad taste does not exist.
