The rose wine has character

Monday 31/07/2006

The rose production began in Marseille it has character, just like people there. Many times before its infatuation in the 1930s: time of the paid holidays creation and the tourism development, the rose was already appreciated by the upper class.

600 years before Jesus Christ, rose is the wine of Tavel the popes could not resist to. In the 18th century rose was the first Bordeaux wine served to British people, the French Claret.
Rose is not only a symbol of summer, this is a wine that is hard to make. The aromatic structure and beauty cannot be separated for this kind of wine like for red wines.

Today, all the French areas are producing rose (including the delicate rosé-des-ricey de Veuve Devaux in Champagne), but the national rosedrome is located in Tavel in the Lubéron, an appellation in Provence and Vallée du Rhône. Planted on a soil of pebble, the Grenache has the same structure than red wines and such a vivid colour that even tomatoes should appear pale. Its concentration, having a longer maceration, it reveals flavours of red fruits and exotic hints of mango and bananas. We advise you rose from the domains below Vidal Fleury, and Delas Frère, without forgetting Côte du Rhône Rosé d'Etienne Guigal.

The rose wine is effectively a wine of terroir, just like red wines, it drawn its characteristics in a unique soil. Warm lands of Provence where the Domaine Saint-André-de-Figuières are producing marvellous rose wines, fresh and fruity. We recommend you the Cuvée Vieilles vignes 2005 and the châteaux Barbeyrolles (Cuvée Pétale de rose) and Calissanne (Clos Victoire).

Rose is complicated to produce but easy to taste!
