The Bordeaux wine is taking back substance
Saturday 08/10/2005
The 2005 vintage is said to be “wonderful” for the red wines and “exceptional” for the white wines according to the ICBW. It is because the period of sunshine has been particularly favourable and the rain has really been less abundant at the end of the season: “The grapes are quite small and they produce less juice, but a better juice of very good quality”, explains Xavier Carreau, a wine-maker of the region and the director of Wine and Society.
These good news will they be sufficient to give some hope to the Bordeaux wines that are going through a strong crisis? Hardly shaken by the competition from the New World's wines, and stayed away by the French customers, the small and the great Châteaux now count on the traders to stimulate the process.
