The 2006 vintage starts!
Friday 08/09/2006
Besides the bad weather of August, the 2006 vintage seems to be good almost everywhere in France.
InBordeaux, people are already talking about a “very nice vintage”, the harvest beginning – furthermore for white wines – has been inaugurated by Château Carbonnieux (Pessac-Léognan) on the last August 28th.
They estimate the production to 1.5 million Hectoliters – more or less the last year yield – Burgundy wines also seems to be great. The first grape bunch would touch soils around September 15th.
At last, in the South, in Provence and Languedoc-Roussillon, people has begun harvests for August 15th. The vintage is told “precaucious” and fruits have apparently benefited from an ideal combination: fine rainfall to refresh and make the berries growing and then the Mistral, which provide soft drought and allow the grapes to be unpollued and concentrate.
The 2006 vintage will provides a few surprises…
