"A vintage from fairy tales"
Wednesday 03/05/2006
The section of gigantic sky the old docks of Bordeaux offered you seems to represent the eyes of those who tasted the 2005 wine : thousands of stars like in a « fairy tales ». This is the way the oenologist Frank Dubourdieu describes the new vintage of which the outstanding balance is now revealed in the whole world.
The Châteaux that are selling futures (5%) will bill their price only at the end of May. Prices are increasing compared to 2004: a bottle from a famous estate and well-rated by Robert Parker could reach 200 euros.
Thus, amateurs of great wines and bargains you have to know before looking for your "delightful bottle", that inSaint-Julien the names Léoville Barton, Léoville Poyferré, Saint-Pierre and Gloria are already whispered. In the Pauillac area, those of Pontet Canet and Lynch Bages. In the Médoc, we talk about the excellent year of Château La Lagune. In Saint-Estèphe, Haut-Marbuzet and Phélan Ségur, like Lascombes in Margaux, are among the vintage outsiders. In the Graves, Pape Clément plays its game well whereas the Châteaux from the South bank, like la Conseillante, l'Angélus, l'Evangile and Rochebelle are Fairy tales on their own...
