Must we buy future wines?
Monday 06/06/2005
After the atypical 2003 vintage, due to the heat-wave and giving both the worse and the best wines depending on producers' talents, 2004 is a good Bordeaux vintage, very classical and abundant, but with quite reasonable prices, which suits futures' purchases.
Goods deals are now made on the best crus bourgeois from Medoc and Haut-Médoc as well as some remarkable chateaux from “peripheral” appellations (Côtes-de-Castillon, Côtes-de-Blaye, Fronsac, Côtes-de-Francs, etc.)
Moreover, except from the speculative aspect, which concerns the great Medoc's chateaux, the futures' purchase is sometimes the only way to get some very demanded labels of Pomerol or saint-Émillion grands crus produced in small quantities. Concerning 2004 vintage, offers have started and they are going to be multiplied until the end of June, for a delivery on the first 2007 half-year.
