Without any doubt the famoust Bordeaux wine – and not without reason, as i twas classified as « Premier des Premiers » Crus (=first of the first) in the 1855 classification. Châetau Lafite is one of the three unquestioned tops of Pauillac, with Latour and Mouton-Rothschild. Mainly situated around the castle the domain has the specialty to understand as « derogation » of one parcell situated in the commune Saint-Estèphe. But it is permitted everything, as whole Bordeaux considers this wine to be one of the most elegant ones known to produce. Demanding like all the great Bordeaux wines Château Lafite possesses a really aristocratic personality being affirmed for several centuries till its full maturity. Then it develops its special bouquet of cedar, almond and violet with mineral hints (some speak about « the odor of black graphit »), underlined by tannins of supreme elegance conferring the whole with exceptional balance and sweetness.
