The destiny of the wine-grower poet André Ostertag was decided when he struck up a friendship with the Lafon family of Meursault during his time at the Beaune wine school. There he learnt, and later implemented, the pre-fermentation maceration technique, non-filtering and the virtues of the new barrel, little used in Alsace. Some will say that the wines are not typical of the region, including Riesling Muenchberg, Muscat Fronholz and Syvaner vieilles vignes, but they prove, as if it were necessary, that he is among the region's finest wine-growers.
