In 1935, Pierre Philipponnat decided to make a separate wine from this famous plot of vineyards in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, which is surrounded by walls and takes advantage of exceptional light thanks to the reverberation of the Marne River and its southern exposure. This 1999, which is ample, fine and very long at the finish, releases powerful notes of candied fruit and more subtle ones of coffee and cocoa.
