Drought fits it well. The Smith Haut Lafite old vines deeply take root in soil and benefit from all the elements they need to feed and give more complexity to their fruits so that to avoid extreme situations.
According to Parker, the 2005 vintage is quite the best wine ever made by this Pessac-Léognan domain. Black and red fruits, spice and hints of vanilla perfectly merge into this strong structure. They exude and they soften: very nice!
