Margaux

Bordeaux

This appellation is known as the most feminine of the Médoc wines. In the very best vintages it produces wines of rare finesse.

The Mythics

Château Margaux
First Class Growth. Exceptional quality, fantastic complexity, a finish that lingers and lingers. Definitely one of the best wines of the world.

The Lords

Château Palmer
Third Class Growth. Its single obsession: quality. One of the best wines from the Médoc, refined and elegant.

Château Rauzan-Ségla
Second Class Growth. One of the oldest domains. A splendid Margaux, producing a constant quality of wine over the last fifteen years.

The Mythics

Château Brane Cantenac
Second Class Growth. An exceptional "terroir" and up-to-date technology all contribute to producing a successful wine.

Château Cantenac Brown
Third Class Growth. Powerful, well-balanced, a wine that each year gets closer to that undeniable finesse of the really great Margaux.

Château Giscours
Third Class Growth. A "real" Margaux, rich, intense, subtle.

Château Kirwan
Third Class Growth. Its world-wide reputation is partly due to its unique "terroir". Great aging potential.

Château Lascombes
Second Class Growth. A wine renowned for its finesse and elegance. The recent vintages are superb.

Château Prieuré Lichine
Fourth Class Growth. The grapes from the numerous plots that make up the vineyard are blended together with panache to produce a racy wine.

The Reasonables

Château Durfort Vivens
Second Class Growth. The domain is now producing wines that have more depth and complexity after a number of vintages where suppleness dominated.

Château Labégorce
Cru Bourgeois. Plenty of fruit and richness. Since the winery was modernized in the 1990s, a new quality level has been reached.

Château Dauzac
Fifth Class Growth. A meticulous plot by plot vinification. A wine that ranks among the best from this appellation.

Château Marquis de Terme
Fourth Class Growth. Great finesse, full-bodied, supple. A wine that hits great heights on the best vintages.

Château Monbrisson
Cru Bourgeois.

Château du Tertre
Fifth Class Growth. The aromatic quality of this wine is partly due to its fantastic "terroir" and the high proportion of Cabernet-Sauvignon grapes.

Château La Tour de Mons
Cru Bourgeois. This wine is closed up in its youth, but opens up after a few years in bottle.

Château Rauzan-Gassies
Second Class Growth. This château has had its ups and downs, but since the 1990s it is in better shape. A rich, fruity wine.
